January 14, 2003Wanda, Crossovers, The Final Word
Wanda Wanda's archive of her weekly chat is up. Not much that hasn't been mentioned already, although she hints once again that who we've been seeing, while not The First, is not really Giles. Your guess is as good as mine.
An interesting possibility comes to light in a recent article in the Cincinnati Enquirer. According to reports, Jordan Levin of the WB has given the okay for a possible crossover. If, and this is a big if, Joss decides that he wants to do it and if it ends up being Sarah's final season.
While I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to write in with their thoughts on 'Showtime', I have to ask that we draw this topic to a close. I just don't have time to read or respond to the flood of e-mail I'm getting on the topic. However, before I shut the floodgates, I would point out two things. First, nothing is set in stone. If the writers have decided to play around with the rules of succession, it wouldn't be the first time that they've said one thing and done something completely different (just ask any Willow/Tara fan). I don't count anything as canon until I see it on-screen. Second, since the majority of the mail I received was pointing out that Beljoxa's Eye might have been referring to Faith when it said the disruption was caused by the Slayer, closer inspection reveals that not to be the case. We did not hear the full conversation with Beljoxa's Eye in 'Showtime'. We saw perhaps the highlights. Upon stepping out of the dimensional rift, Giles and Anya clearly insinuate that the Eye was speaking about Buffy. I believe the exact quote was... Giles: It's not because she died, Beljoxa's Eye was quite clear about that (in its enigmatic way). It's because she lives, again. So you see, we're missing the side of the conversation where the Eye went into details. But obviously Giles and Anya are both on the same track, Buffy is the center of the disruption. The question I'm interested in, is in what way have the Slayer energies been altered. Which I have a hunch will be answered in 'Get It Done'. Link |
