New Drew, Succubus Club, SpoilerZone, OMWF

I Think He Likes Zombies

Drew Goddard stopped by the BetaBronze last night and the archive is now available at the VIP Archive page. You'll also note that I'm no longer linking directly to the actual posts, but to the main page. It's such an invaluable and unique resource that I wanted to make sure that James gets all the credit for his hard work (and like me, he's doing this out of pocket). Plus, aside from the latest updates, they've also been working back through the archives to get to some of the earliest posts ever made.

Besides putting the 'Was the Council Really Blown Up?' question to rest once and for all, he also hints at upcoming Xander moments to watch for.

Recorded On A Chrome Cassette In Stereo

Another site that I don't mention enough, which also qualifies as a unique resource for Buffy fans, is the Succubus Club. Last night, there was some writer news on the show (although it looks as if the Writer's Roundtable will be delayed). According to the hosts, Kitty and Candy, Drew Z. Greenberg will be penning Episode 13 followed by Jane Espenson on 14.

Digging In The Dirt

There is an update to the SpoilerZone, which includes a rough summary of 'Bring On The Night' from an anonymous source.

From the ep. 10 script: "Note: It is VERY important that Giles not touch or be touched by anything. He can walk and talk-- but he can't fiddle or cuddle or caress. Got it?"

When Giles arrives he brings 3 girls (Molly, Annabelle and Kennedy) with him who are slayers in training. Those are apparently what those girls (from Istanbul and Germany) were who were killed in the beginning of a couple of those episodes by those monk guys (the Bringers). Apparently the First has been tracking down slayers in training (potential slayers) and their watchers and has been killing them all off. So now all the remaining slayers in training in the world are heading to Sunnydale for protection. One of the 3 potential slayers (Annabelle) that Giles brings with her is killed in this episode by the Ubervamp.

Spike is tortured throughout the episode by the Ubervamp. The First talks to him, mostly in the form of Druisilla and Evil Spike. The Ubervamp repeatedly drowns Spike and beats him to a pulp. Spike tells Druisilla/First that he's out... that they can't pull his strings anymore. Druisilla/First asks Spike what makes him think he has a choice and what makes him think he will ever be any good at all in this world. Spike replies, "She does. Because she believes in me."

Buffy and the gang find the Seal of Danzalthar in the school basement that was activated by Spike's blood. (Spike and the Bringers, etc. aren't there anymore) They take shovels and decide to cover it up. Afterwards Buffy and Principle Wood run into each other, each carrying a shovel. (Principle Wood just came back from burying Jonathan) They both give B.S. excuses for why they are carrying shovels and Principle Wood tells Buffy since she is feeling better he would like her go back to work at the school.

Buffy has a brief run-in with the Ubervamp while she and Giles go to the old Xmas tree lot, looking for the Bringers. She escapes only because of the sun rising (scaring away the vamp) After Annabelle runs away, Buffy goes out to find her, only to see her being split in half by the Ubervamp. Then apparently Buffy gets her butt kicked like never before. She can't even hurt the Ubervamp at all or even get away from him. The gang ends up finding her almost lifeless body, bloodied with ribs smashed. She bounces back after some rest at the Summers home with her Slayer fast-healing abilities and the episode ends with Buffy giving a speach about how the only thing more powerful than evil is them, and they are going to declare war on the First and the Bringers.

The overall outline gels with what I've heard from my own sources, though in some respects there are more details than I have (for example, the shovel scene with Buffy and Principal Wood), so I can't fully confirm the summary. But I don't have many doubts, especially since it backs up my information on both Giles (no touchy-feely) and Spike (still MIA at the beginning of 'Showtime'). But as Drew pointed out in the BetaBronze last night, scripts can change up until the moment they are filmed (and even after, if you consider 'Beneath You').

The Dance Of Capitalism

Thanks to those who pointed out that I have failed to add the scriptbook for Once More, With Feeling to the store. I'm going to try and get it completely updated this weekend, but you can use this link for the moment.
