Thanksgiving Break

Turkey Time

With Sweeps over and spoilage getting harder and harder to find, there's not much to post about at the moment. Just a heads up that this is going to cover as today and tomorrow's post (unless something really earth-shattering surfaces). Besides, there's must feasting to be done, especially if you get the FX Network (as there will be a Buffy marathon tomorrow).

But I did want to pop in with some clarification on yesterday's spoilers. There is more than a bit of confusion about what my take was on the new spoilers.

First, in terms of questioning the source, I really don't think this is misinformation. I can't number the things they have been right about so far this season, even minor little tidbits that usually aren't important enough to rank as spoilers (like the coins in the locker in 'Help' or the 'Yellow Crayon' sign in 'Same Time, Same Place).

As for the Giles spoiler, I can only fall back on the logic that I use in situations like these (much like the "If Tara dies, then Willow will become the Big Bad" from last season).

Giles not touching anyone or anything could be any one of these possibilities.

- The writers want us to think that Giles is being impersonated by the 'The First'.

- Giles is alive, because 'The First' can take the form of either dead or alive characters.

- Giles is dead, because 'The First' can only take the form of those who have died (and even though Buffy is alive now, she's been dead more than once before).

- Giles is back and alive, but 'The First' impersonates him for one or two scenes.

To me, the first and the last are the most likely. I really wouldn't be too concerned at the moment. But there has been a lot of speculation since 'Sleeper' about the fate of Giles, and I did want to show that it wasn't entirely off-base.

I'm still hopeful for at least one new episode in December, but we might have to wait until mid-January to discover exactly what is going on.

Just an aside: I forgot to mention something about the Council of Watchers. Their headquarters were most definitely blown up in 'Never Leave Me'. I know that there is a some dispute about the establishing shots, but it's part of the news that Buffy receives when the SIT's arrive. I knew that something happened to the Council, just didn't have the exact details.
