July 20, 2002New Casting Spoilage
Pretty Maids All In A Row No new spoilage today, but I'm going to drop a bombshell of my own. I'm still reluctant to post my own spoilers at the site, since I don't want to end up getting burned by an unreliable source, or taking the spotlight off of the true spoiler sites (who have many more resources than my own). I've decided that I'm going to make an exception for my independent sources who technically are industry sources. These spoilers aren't word of mouth and I'm not receiving these second-hand. If I'm dropping spoilers of this nature, it means I've got documented proof. However, as with all spoilers, there is the possibility that this information could change or the show could go in another direction. But at this time, it's something that the show is actively planning on doing. Now onto the spoilage... According to an industry source, ME has put out a casting call for Slayers-In-Training. That is Slayers in the plural sense. These will be non-speaking roles, with the footage being used during the teaser sequences. So what does this mean? My first thought was flashback-sequence, maybe highlighting Slayers through the ages. However, the casting call would have probably referred to Slayers in that case. The only thing that makes sense at this point, is that something is either tracking, training, or killing Slayers-In-Training. If that is the case, then it's very unlikely that the 'Big Bad' is going to appear in the first episode. It makes more sense that something or someone will be interacting with the 'Slayers-In-Training' in the teaser sequence of one or multiple episodes. One might assume (and this is all speculation at this point), that whatever it is will be drawn to Sunnydale at some point. Perhaps there is already a 'Slayer-In-Waiting' in Sunnydale? What or who could be doing this or would be interested in pre-Slayers? Either it's the real 'Big Bad' or it's the Council of Watchers, or it's both. While this skirts dangerously close to the story in Christopher Golden's Spike and Dru novel, Mutant Enemy certainly has the right to use that idea on their own (especially since it was established long ago that the Watchers do have the ability to locate and train Slayers before they are called). In the end, this spoilage might be nothing or it might mean everything. Much can be read into it, but at this point all I have is the basic info that they are looking for actresses. My hunch is that this could be THE 'Story Arc' for Season Seven. Link |
