February 26, 2002AM Update - TV Guide, Literary Connection
TV Guide Description A bit later than normal, but still early enough, TV Guide has posted their description of 'Normal Again'. I think it's safe to say this is where the 'Asylum' episode was shifted. Normal Again 60 min. A demon doses Buffy with a powerful chemical that causes her to hallucinate, convincing the Slayer her parents are alive and Dawn never existed. Joyce Summers: Kristine Sutherland. Hank Summers: Dean Butler. Andrew: Tom Lenk. Jonathan: Danny Strong. Warren: Adam Busch. Giles: Anthony Stewart Head. Buffy: Sarah Michelle Gellar. Willow: Alyson Hannigan. The Cheese Stands Alone Leslie wrote me a day or so ago, and reminded me that the entire 'Asylum' plot device, actually was used in a very popular book by Robert Cormier. I don't know if they are still teaching it in school, but along with 'A Separate Peace' and 'Lord of the Flies', 'I Am The Cheese' seemed to be a favorite choice for English class back when I was in school. The funny thing about it, this is something I looked into last season, when there really seemed to be this sense of 'unreality' in Sunnydale. With the Cheese Man in 'Restless', my first thought was this could be a reference to 'I Am The Cheese'. Season Five never fit the alternate reality pattern (even with all of the references, including the Chronicles of Narnia). However, if you are interested, I'd highly recommend checking out the book. I'm including a link for those interested. Who said that Spoilers can't be educational. Link |
