November 12, 2001More stuff from FanForum, this
More stuff from FanForum, this time from Sweetie (aka Jen). Now that the girlfriend rumor is out in the open, I don't think it'll kill me to back it up. It still hasn't been "confirmed" but this was the spoiler I was talking about waaay long ago (remember that bad spoiler I said I had but couldn't tell you, but if it was played out a certain way, it could be fun?) Well, that was it. I'm not too worried right now, because I would love to see a jealous Buffy, but the thing I just can't wrap my brain around is that Spike would really fall for someone else. I mean, a one night stand, I could handle, but it's implied that it's going to be an ongoing thing. That, I don't like. And it's not Dru and I don't think it's Amy - supposedly there were people trying out for the part of the "new girlfriend", which means it's nobody we've ever seen before (an old flame from Spike's past, is what I've been hearing). And that would also rule out Willow doing the mojo on Spike (which I could have accepted). Then again, it COULD be Willow... Maybe the girl comes back trying to revert Spike to his evil ways and stuff, but Spike's not interested. Then Willow sees the opportunity to destroy the B/S relationship, by making Spike fall for this girl again. I guess I could see that happening... *sigh* Then again, things usually ever go the way I think they might. Regarding KC's spoilers - I have no idea. Knowing her track record, I wouldn't put too much faith in them, but then again, I have to admit that they do sound plausible to me. I hate the thought of Spike feeling indebted to Willow, but I also hate the thought of Willow hating Spike. I definitely see more of a Willow/Spike enemies type scenerio, which I'd prefer to a Willow/Spike alliance. But, I dunno. I don't think Joss would make TWO main characters go bad this season - that would be too much, in my opinion. I guess we'll just have to see. Hopefully, I'll get some more spoilers soon that can confirm or deny the whole W/S alliance thingy.Couple of things here, just to clarify some of the issues. This rumor is based around supposed tryouts/casting calls for a girlfriend. I've got a number of problems with this entire scenario, I could be wrong, but let's look at it this way. First, One would assume that the casting call would be for a specific type of person, etc. Why go out of the way to announce that you are casting Spike's Girlfriend, laying all your cards out to any interested observer. Second, there is an implied long-term relationship involved here. Knowing what we know of Spike, it certainly couldn't be a human. After all, he's pretty much been with Dru since the day he was made from what we've seen. When would have found time for relationship? My thought then turned to the fact that he might have made Cecily a vampire, but again there wouldn't be a need for a casting call. I just feel that after 'Fool For Love', having another flame from his past appear would be slightly revisionist. There was a point to his passion for Dru, I would hate to see it diffused. I'm not even sure I could see someone new. I keep coming back to the fact that there is simply way too many characters on the show at the moment. Yes, Giles is going to leave, but in the next episode Amy returns. Just a thought, but maybe the casting call was for the girl that Spike stalks to see if his chip is working (bit part, but could be enough to require a call?). As for the Buffy/Spike tryst, all I can think is that there is something in the timeline that we're missing. A crucial piece that would let all of this fall into place. Maybe they just get a little hot and heavy at the end of 'Tabula Rasa', which is the badness that Buffy refers to when she gets upset at Spike. Then we go through the demon possession, then Buffy and Spike spend the night together, then she goes through the entire thing for real this time. I don't know, there seems to be a lot of repetitive rejection going on. Adding to the confusion is the return of Amy, because we know that Buffy is talking with her in more than one scene, yet she's either possessed by a demon or snogging Spike. I would think the return of Amy would be the A story, and I just can't see them pushing the Buffy/Spike relationship back to a B story for that episode. So for that matter, having it happen at the end of 'Smashed' would also make sense. Well, we should have a better idea in a few hours, once the wildfeed goes out. Link |
